Trump Says US Will Not Lock Down Again in the midst of Rising COVID-19 Cases

WASHINGTON, June 18 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (Jun 17) the United States would not close organizations again as a few states announced rising quantities of new coronavirus diseases.

"We won't be shutting the nation once more. We won't need to do that," Trump said in a meeting with Fox News Channel.

Trump's remarks come after White House financial guide Larry Kudlow and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin both said the United States couldn't close down the economy once more.

In a call with governors, Vice President Mike Pence urged them to rehash the organization's case that expanded testing represents the spike in numbers, the New York Times has detailed.

The paper's examination found that positive cases exceeded the normal number of regulated tests in at any rate 14 states.

Cafés, rec centers, schools and different areas shut down in March as the nation prepared for the coronavirus, which has so far nauseated 2.16 million Americans and murdered about 118,000.

A great many Americans got themselves jobless because of the pandemic. Trump had recently touted the quality of the economy, making it integral to his re-appointment offer in November.
